Stewardship

The theory of stewardship was first introduced in the 1990s and in the 2000s good stewards were those whose motives were aligned to those of their organization. In the 2010s the theory had further developed into ethical stewardship where good steward act in the best interests of both shareholders and stakeholder.

The Founder member of the Capricorn group view stewardship as a leadership process and management mindset that is brought to bear in every strategic and operational decision across the entire organization. Based on the positive, prosocial, and intrinsically motivated model of human beings, stewardship refers to the leadership approaches taken to proactively make decisions after taking into consideration the interests of all stakeholders, including employees and shareholders.
